Slam Dunk Contest

Mental Slam Dunks

This is mental! Some great Slam Dunk stunts here, a nice little video with what looks like a bunch of bloke cheerleaders doing crazy stuff of some trampolines, then doing some awesome dunks. Well worth a watch!

This is a pretty cool little stunt. The challenge is to get off a subway train, race to the next station, and then get back on the same train again. It's pretty good and worth a watch!

Andy's Fixed!

Thats right! We got his Glow Plugs replaced last week after repeated trouble with him, and now he starts with no problems. Viv took him to a garage on Gale Lane and it cost us £100. We were supposed to be getting the cheap ones for £100, but the bloke had made a mistake, and as we'd been quoted £100, we got the expensive ones for £100 instead of £120. Bargain!

Viv then picked it up after work last Thursday and picked me up from the gym. I said was she sure she wanted to drive in the fog, she said yes, and then immediately regretted it...

Weekend Frolics

This weekend was pretty good. We were at Sarah and Glen's on Friday. It wasn't supposed to be a late night as Viv was working on Saturday, but we ended up staying till about half 2anyway, and I was the one who suggested we go home! Apparently we missed the carnage, with Jayne being sick. I think it was the shots that Glen was plying everyone with personally.

Viv got up late for work, not really surprising. So she had to stay at work really late as she was supposed to do 8 hours and had loads to do. Once she'd finished she got the car, went to tescos, came home and had dinner, then 20mins later we were off to Al and Jaynes!

Luckily no one really felt like drinking much, so we had a light and early night, leaving around midnight. We played a game called 'At the Dogs' which was ok, but the favourite dog always came first, regardless of form, so next time we're going to neuter it a bit so some other dogs win.

We left the car at Jayne and Al's on Sunday as we couldn't be bothered to go and get it. Which gives me a good excuse to get out of going to the gym on Monday, as I have to go and get it :)

Best 5 Funny Football Goals of all the Time

Best 5 Funny Football Goals of all the Time - Google Video

Some great goals in here! Absolutely hilarious some of them :)

What is this Blog?

It's occured to me that the only vaguely interesting thing that I do is on weekends... So most of the other posts I put on here are random interesting/funny stuff I find on the net. As I had started this blog to be a diary of some sorts I'm not really sure what happened.

I normally can't be bothered to update immediately after a weekend anyway, so I normally do it about now, by which time I've already forgotten most of the really interesting things that have happened, and end up writing a generic 'we went to this persons house and did this' kind of post, which is pretty boring to read and write. Especially as its normally Jayne and Al's one night and Sarah and Glen's the next, or vice versa.

I need to sort out some photos, either at home or at work, so then I can at least have some colour and something to write about, especially as Viv takes loads of photos and theres normally at least one thats vaguely amusing. More to follow...

Which Historic General are you?

King Edward I
You scored 74 Wisdom, 73 Tactics, 60 Guts, and 49 Ruthlessness!
Or rather, King Edward the Longshanks if you've seen Braveheart. You, like Edward, are incredibly smart and shrewd, but you win at any costs.... William Wallace died at his hands after a fierce Scottish rebellion against his reign. Despite his reputation though, Longshanks had the best interests of his people at heart. But God help you if you got on his bad side.
  • You scored higher than 87% on Unorthodox
  • You scored higher than 55% on Tactics
  • You scored higher than 67% on Guts
  • You scored higher than 58% on Ruthlessness

The Weekend Summary

Once again the weekend has finished and I'm absolutely knackered! I havent been getting much sleep on weekends, I need to start myself getting naps in the afternoon as I really dont get much sleep on a weekend, what with getting in at 3am and waking up at 8 or 9...

We went to Jayne and Al's on Friday night, not leaving till quite late as we didnt have to, Viv wasn't working for once! However she fell asleep an hour and half before we left as she had been working that day. It was a good night though, as always. John wasnt there, but me, Glenn and Al played a mini tournament on FIFA, none of us making it past the second round, annoyingly I was playing Glenn in the first round...

On saturday we went into town shopping and I got some new shoes, I was going for a new shirt as well, but couldnt find a decent one. Town was absolutely packed and I was so bored, annoyed, hungover and not particularly interested in being around.

On saturday night we went to Sarah and Glenn's which was also cool. We smoked inside, in Grisham's room, as it was freezing and drizzling outside. I had bought some Lilt for my vodka, but after trying it decided against doing it again. We were there for quite a while this week, Viv faded a bit in the middle of the night, but got her second wind later.

This is a great blog. It has so many videos that are so funny and/or cool. It's got the Matrix Ping Pong, the funny cat video I posted just before this, a motorbike chasing a car going crazy speeds, dancing robots and comedy GI Joe cartoons. Everything you need to waste a day.

Mario Kart DS

IGN: Mario Kart DS Review

I'm getting this game today! I can't wait :P MarioKart by the internet! N64 quality, what else could I want? I finally feel justified buying my DS :D

Strangeness in the Computer

My computer has been strange this week. I havent really used it for a while, as I had no reason to, then I bought and played Civ 4, which was good, and had no problems. Then John from work copied me Quake 4 and FEAR. I installed FEAR and got some sound problems and an error kept popping up at startup, but other than that, nothing much else happened. Last weekend I played Quake 4 for a day, then a few days later, it wouldnt start. I found this really weird.

Restarting in safe mode and deleting Quake 4 and FEAR, after trying a few other things, seemed to sort this out, and the PC started fine. Then yesterday I went to play Civ 4 and it wouldn't load again. I took the DVD of Civ 4 out of the drive and restarted without a problem. Now I dont know if this is due to the DVD being in the drive, or something left over from Quake 4 or FEAR, which are still off the PC, but it's never happened before. I'll have to check it this weekend to see if it happens again and if it is the DVD, I hope not, I like Civ 4...

Washington Post Dictionary

The Washington Post's Style Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.
Here are the 2003 winners:

1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
4. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.
5. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.
6. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
7. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
8. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
9. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)
11. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like a serious bummer.
12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
13. Glibido: All talk and no action.
14. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
15. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.
16. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.
17. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a grub in the fruit you're eating.
And the pick of the literature:
18. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an ass.

Weekend at the Dudes

I suppose I should write about this weekend as well. Friday we went to Sarah and Glen's but we had to leave early again as Viv was working on Saturday. We're starting to have trouble with the car again as it's getting pretty cold. We played Buzz again, always good fun. I got quite drunk, but I seem to be getting less and less drunk recently, maybe its because I'm eating so late now... Oh well, I'll just have to drink more!

Saturday was uneventful, I did lots of washing and a few other jobs, like taking Blizzard for a walk. Played Quake 4, which is incredibly like Doom 3, possibly a bit too much... Went to pick up Viv and then we went to Jumbo's in town, an all you can eat Chinese buffet, which was very nice :)

Saturday night we were round at Jayne and Al's, but it was a shorter night as Viv was knackered. We played Buzz again, I did much better this time, nearly winning a round amongst the boys, until Player 4 joined in on its own and messed things up so we started again. We left quite early again as Viv was knackered from working.

Sunday we really didnt do much, except watch Ring 2, which isnt as good as the first one or the original. We didnt even pick up the car, it's still outside Jayne and Al's! We were supposed to go to the gym as well as I missed Thursday as I was knackered... Better luck next week!

I lost out on £100...

Last friday my mate offhand said, we should put a bet on the England Triple this weekend. "Ah", thought I, "What a great idea! At about 16-1 I think thats worth a fiver"

So the next day I looked up the odds on the net, a £7 treple spread would cost me £7 as it's £1 a line, and would net me £107! Bargain I thought, not really expecting it to happen, especially as england in the cricket were already down to pakistan 143-1 with odds of 10-1. But hey, I put the bet on anyway.

After driving all the way to Dover from York for a school reunion party, it was 3 o'clock and I was dying to find out the England Vs Australia score. To my disgust no pub in Dover has Sky so no game... After the game on BBC1 I was amazed to find out that we'd won! I was happy to say the least, the least likely result had come through, 1/3 of the way there!

Later that day I was watching the football. Still not really considering that my bet stood a chance. Then England went 2-1 down and I consoled myself with another beer. "Oh well, I wasn't really expecting much..." Then miracle of miracles! With only 3 minutes left to go of the match, Michael Owen smacks in 2 amazing goals and England win 3-2! I was beside myself! 2/3 of the way there, and England were making a comeback in the cricket!

For the next few days I paid close attention to the cricket, checking it at work, watching the live scores updates, seeing us creep back and then take the lead. In the second innings England seemed in commanding form, trouncing Pakistan and needing under 200 runs to win. Then everything started going wrong...

At the station this morning I listened on the radio, we only need 60 runs from 3 wickets, it doesnt seem like a lot. Then when I get to work I discover that England lost. By 22 runs. And I only won £9... Meaning I had lost out on nearly £100...

Oh well, at least I got my money back!

Old Boys Weekend

Yep, this weekend was Old Boys weekend and after drinking last night it's up at 07:30 to leave an hour late at 09:00. Viv drove to London, then I did the rest, getting to Dover about 15:00. We went to the 8 Bells to meet Dom and a few mates, then went to the Brit to see everyone else. Chris, Nick, Fulli, James, Olly and Gemma were all there, along with many other people I hadn't seen in quite a while. We got a lot of congratulations from people about our engagement. Eventually we left to go to Dom's room for a bit of smoke then we went back to our hotel to get changed. We then went to KFC for some food and then to the Brit again.

Although the Brit wasn't letting people in, so we met everyone in the Nelson round the corner. Sherwyn met us there as well. We then moved on to the 8 Bells again, eventually getting bored and heading back to the Brit. After a while we realised that we weren't going to get in and James was about to get his head kicked in, so we left and went to the Flotilla. Eventually loads of people left the Brit and came into our pub, so we had a good night of it, getting lots of drinks and talking to loads of mates.

Once Time had been called we went to Underage, or Studio 1 as it's now known, as everyone else had. I wasn't planning on it, I'd wanted to go to the hotel bar, but noone would've been there. After paying to get in and having a bit of a drink and a dance, Viv was very ready to leave, so I pretty much carried her back to the B&B.

The next day we got up for breakfast and made it to school for the parade. Afterwards we went to kitchener to see Dom and get some charity bands - Wear A Helmet. Then went to the Duke of York to say goodbye and went to get some food. Drove home between us and got back around 19:00. It was a very good, very expensive and very tiring weekend. :)

Buzz Again

Friday saw us once again round at Sarah and Glen's, we hadn't been there for quite a while, it's good to have more room, as they have a bigger house. Ben was energetic as ever, bouncing around and trying his hardest to crawl, although he can turn and apparently goes backwards, it's only a matter of time.

I drove there, but Viv wasn't drinking as she's driving tomorrow on the way to Dover. It was a good night, Glen got Buzz out again and we played Boys Vs Girls, I was getting a bit too into though and kept pressing buttons for people when it wasn't my turn. I think the score ended up 1-1, as we never had another game, the boys started playing Brian Lara Cricket instead.

We left quite early as we had to get up and got to bed around 01:00

Overtime!

That's right, my first real overtime. We only had a meeting really, but it was 2 hours time and a half so I'm happy. We have another meeting next week, further discussion, and then real overtime will probably kick in later when the project gets going, I could be getting over a weeks extra pay!

However it did mess up my gym going, as I didn't go on the weekend, I won't be able to go till wednesday, which will be 5 days without excercise, not great really. The same is probably going to happen next week as I'm off to Old Boys this weekend and then no gym on Monday.

After the smoke has cleared

Friday was a good night. A good bit of drinking round Jayne and Al's, the usual.

Saturday we journeyed to Jonny's and lucky ended up behind Sarah's car on the A64, so she showed us the way. She did get a bit worried that we were following her, but then, we were! A great night, Viv pulled her party trick rather early, but she had been working that day and had only had 4 hours sleep. We set off some fireworks (that were a bit disappointing) and saw jonny's house and rabbit, both great. We went to bed about 3 after doing some nasty bongs in the garage, where you set up for the next person. It was getting a bit evil at the end, with thick yellow tinged smoke, I swear I started seeing spots...

The next day we all went to Burger King on the way home and then I spent most of the day playing Civ 4, which I got in the post on Friday and had been playing all weekend. I'm sure I'll post something else about that later. Viv spent most of the day asleep :) We watched Office Space as well, ace film!

Bonfire Night!

Booyah bitches! It's Bonfire Night this weekend, which also means, for us northerners at least, that there will also be mischeivous night (and thats probably spelt wrong). I'm not really sure what this involves, generally kids getting up to mischief, which sounds quite cheeky and cute, however nowadays its really just chavs being a pain in the ass.

I'm off to Leeds for Bonfire Night, this was supposed to be a trip to a park for a big fireworks display, but instead we're going to a mates and getting drunk instead, possibly with a few of our own fireworks, knowing Jonny.

Tonight should also be fun, I'm not sure where we're headed, to one of The Dudes' houses probably, but it'll be a good laugh, and I have to make sure Viv rations hereself or it'll be another short night and Viv is working tomorrow, I think.

My Nan is up in York at the moment, she got her yesterday. Gayle had today off work and was hoping she'd take her to Betty's in town, but she should be keeping her occupied.

Hopefully my copy of Civ 4 got her today as well! I really want a new PC game to play, and I can get some hours in while Viv's at work...

Groups of Girls

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but if there is a group of girls there are certain stereotypes that all of the girls in the group will fit into, this was particularly well illustrated to me at the train station this morning where I saw quite a large group of girls which appeared to exhibit ALL of these stereotypes:

The Gorgeous One - There is always one who is much better looking than any of the others in the group, most of the time this girl is 'The Leader'. And most of the time she's a bitch. The other girls look up to her and want to be her, but hate her. All boys will immediately talk to her, meaning the rest of the group don't like them either.

The Shy One - This girl is always reasonably good looking, but she hides away and doesnt say very much. It's also likely she's the most intelligent one of the group.

The Attached One - There will only be one boy with the group, and he will belong to this girl. She won't be the best looking girl, and he's gutted because he'll come to realise he has no chance with any of her better looking friends. She often gets excluded from group activites because of her boyfriend.

The Tall One - There will be a very tall friend, who, depending on the age of the group will either be very ugly or very good looking, but not better looking than the Gorgeous One, or she'd be expelled from the group.

The Emo/Goth One - Wheter or not they are really Emo/Goth or not doesnt matter, they will dress that way and the other girls will love her as she's so creative and artistic. However she will hate herself and ignore the fact she has friends and be convinced she's ugly, hates her parents and is completely alone.

The Chatty One - The one who talks to everyone and anyone and about everything, never stopping for breath. She is quite well liked amongst the group as she'll keep a conversation moving and always has something to say, she's just very insecure about herself and thinks noone likes her.

The Fat One - There is always, ALWAYS a fat friend. The one the girls keep around as they feel sorry for her, and she makes them feel better. They call her 'pretty' (this is girl-code for Fat, trust me)

There are of course a few others, such as The Chavvy One, or The Fashionable One, but these are fairly explanatory. Most girls can be placed in one of these categories, although it is possible to be a combination of two.

Of course boys have their own groups as well, but I'll save them for another day :)

Gamers Strike Back Part II

Penny Arcade

Further to my earlier post I've found this about Jack Thompson. I think it was Penny Arcade who put up the $10,000 he refused to pay after his bet was taken and won. Good on those guys I say, at least someone still has a sense of humour and the wit to make a decent point without being retarded about it!

Wallace & Gromit - Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Wallace & Gromit - Curse of the Were-Rabbit

This is an absolutely outstanding film and I recommend it to anyone. It's suitable for kids and adults, it's hugely entertaining and well worth going to see, I promise you you won't regret it! I found it hilarious, theres jokes for all ages and the storyline is suitably ridiculous without being too ridiculous. I went to see it with Viv on saturday night and although she feel asleep halfway through it wasn't because the film was boring!

Viv's Party Trick

Has now been established as being able to go from incredibly excited to asleep in a matter of seconds, normally taking the path along the lines of: "Woo! Yeah! Party! Guy, call a taxi. *SNORE*".

Needless to say this happened on Friday night. We did drink rather a lot and we were playing Sarah and Glen's new PS2 game, Buzz (which comes with four buzzers!). The game is brilliant, it's a music quiz where you answer question in several rounds, but it comes with the buzzers you need for the game, it's ace! It was a good night and I was just looking forward to getting in some FIFA 2006 when Viv collapsed on the sofa and requested a taxi.

On saturday we went into town early and put some money in my savings (first time in years!), then bought my dad an everton shirt for his birthday (apparently quite a while away), and got a Burger King. We had a look around some sports stores for running trainers, but it seems that no sports stores sell sports equipment.. Then we went to Jayne and Al's as Kat was making a visit for the day so we had a chat and picked up the car.

That night we went to see Wallace and Gromit - Curse of the Were-Rabbit and I wanted to see Nightwatch as well, but Viv fell asleep halfway through Wallace and Gromit, so I thought it wasn't worth it, she said we could watch it on Sunday. Although I later found out that was probably the last showing in Vue.

On Sunday we went to the designer outlet and got some trainers from the Reebok shop, then went to the gym. Then we went home and had showers, I carried on reading 'The Wastelands' and Viv went to sleep. Later we watched 'Hero' and I saw 'From Hell' once Viv had gone to bed.

Video game players strike back!

Anti-game activist Jack Thompson under investigation

I find this quite interesting. It points out to me just how stupid and selfish some people can be. Jack Thompson seemed to standing up for some people and made a promise which he should have honoured, it's not like it was a bet with anyone in particular, it was for a charity for god's sake. It just shows that some people can't accept 1) When they've lost, 2) When they're wrong.

I'm glad that gamers have taken a stand and decided to take some action against all the evidence free accusations that rain down on the video games industry. Violence may well effect kids, but games have warnings on, they aren't designed for young children, if parents can't keep them away from their kids, it's not the game designers fault.

Work's picking up

It's been quite a slow week in many ways. I havent done much really. I've been given a bit more work after finishing the Breeders' Cup site and all the syndications. Since then I've also done a small pop-up project for someone else, to register people for a free poker evening. That was ok. Now I'm going to be working on another vignette project, doing something with an audio centre for some more horesracing. Like before most of the code is already done and I just have to play around with it and convert it to this years site.

I don't think much is happening this weekend, I just payed for my 2 anime series from ebay, Paranoia Agent and Wolf's Rain, they should get here next week at some point. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few more next month, I'm looking at Full Metal Alchemist and Gun Grave as they're supposed to be quite good. Although I may get Gantz instead.

Not much else to say really... My DS has run out of batteries so I have nothing to do on the train. I'm going to the gym again as well, I went yesterday and did quite a lot. My shins are starting to hurt a lot more when I'm running, I need some new trainers. I hope I sort it out soon, or I'll have to switch to the rowing machine or something instead. I'm hoping to buy some more trainers on the weekend and maybe some jeans that'll be OK for work and dont have a hole in the crotch!

The Rest of the Weekend...

Viv was feeling crap, and so was I. I woke up at 09:00 (WHY?!?) then sat and watched TV till we had showers and decided to go to the Phantom for a fry up. Which, considering it was a 'Big Scary Breakfast' wasn't that big and certainly wasn't that scary. Tessa turned up later and we had a bit of a chat, she's going to live in Japan and teach kids English, which sounds cool, but I'd be terrified to do on my own!

Eventually we made our way back to Barry's and left about 17:00. We got home about 18:45 and had some dinner, Viv had a shower, then we went round to the dudes. I was still feeling crap though, and the drinks weren't helping. We played FIFA for a bit, and I scored! Only my second ever FIFA goal in general play, but it was my first in FIFA 2006, and it was only my second time playing. A sign of things to come? We left quite early as Viv was working Sunday.

Didn't do much Sunday except put some 2 year old films in to be developed and do a lot of washing. That's about it really...

Lufbra: Journey to Hell

Or so Viv thought anyway. Needless to say, the trip to Loughborough was not fun. I left work at 16:30 and got home by about 18:00, having caught a train and a bus. Viv was already there. We packed the car and headed off, it was dark and raining. Viv later said she had been in fear of her life for pretty much all of the drive. I did get scared in a few places, but I suppose driving inches away from a lorry on your left, and only a foot away from oncoming traffic on your right, while it's dark and raining so hard you can't really see will do that to you.

It was a bad trip, but we got there about 20:30, after stopping for Burger King and being slowed down by the crap traffic. But I think seeing everyone (Nick, James, Henry, Barry and Paul) and getting drunk made up for it and I had a great night. Viv on the other hand didnt. She wasn't feeling great about herself as we had to rush to get out by 22:00, then she got in a fight with a girl who insulted her during the Michael Jackson tribute guy (who I don't remember!). Then we had an argument later on the way home (neither of us can remember what about!) and she stormed off. I met her later and we got back to Barry's ok.

Nearly 200 RPG Cliches

This is a very funny and amusing list (if your into RPGs that is) compiled by a number of people who have obviously played a LOT of RPGs. I've played a fair number of RPGs and so I found most of these cliches very funny!

RPG Cliches List

I havent written much over the last few days, because, to be honest, not a lot has happened! We had a Team Meeting earlier, discussing what was going to be happening over the next 6 months. Apparently we're moving all of the rivals.net sites over to vignette and this is going to be our main priority, so it may involve a fair bit of overtime (but we'll be getting paid) and possibly bonuses! (SCORE!) I don't really mind either of these as I'm a bit short of money and that just means I can pay off my debts faster and make new ones! But we'll also be getting 3 more staff as well as a few other things to make sure the project is done properly, hopefully my job is safe then!

I've been going to the gym steadily still, about 3 times a week, I was supposed to once on a weekend, but that hasnt happened yet.

On Friday I'm heading to Loughborough with Viv to go out with all the uni people, as lots are turning up. Not sure if I'm staying saturday night or not as Viv has lots of work to do, Barry is working and we think lots of other people are leaving. If we come back we can go out to the dudes for the night and Viv can work Sunday.

I also got a text from Chris yesterday, asking if I was going to Old Boys in Dover. It would be nice to see my mates again, but it's such a long way to Dover from York, it's nearly Christmas and it'll be this month. I'm not really up for it, but I think Viv might be, although she seems to be flagging on the idea...

Curry, Metallica, Filey - in that order

Yep, this weekend was all about those three things. Firday night didnt have much to do with those three things as all I did was watch Hitch while Viv talked to her mum in Mexico for the first time in ages.

Saturday we didnt do much either. Viv went to work again, I read. Then I picked up Viv and we went round to Caroline's, as we hadn't seen her in about 18 months, and we hadnt seen her baby yet. Then we went home and went round to Kerry and Zack's for dinner and a piss up. We left our house at 7:30, waited 50 minutes(!!!!!) for a 4 buses which didnt come, so we got a lift from Kerry, then 2 buses turned up, one after the other!

Anyway it was a good night with a very nice curry and I tried some insanity sauce (DON'T!). Then we drank a lot of vodka, talked about a lot of stuff and watched a lot of metallica, including the MTV Idols show which I hadnt seen before.

Sunday was fairly uneventful. At 3pm we decided to drive to Filey to get some Fish & Chips. It's about 50 miles from York, so it's not like it's just down the road. But it was nice to be able to do something and not worry about money. The Fish & Chips wasn't really worth the drive though...

Specialist Schwarz

This post is mainly about a text file on albinoblacksheep.com, which I visit quite a lot, for various reason. The file included an introduction which is here:

"Once upon a time, there was a SPC Schwarz stationed with the Army in the Balkans. SPC Schwarz was either very clever or very bored; but probably both, since he managed to attempt or be warned about 213 things he wasn't allowed to do. He collected those things into a hillarious list and posted them to the web. "

The list can be seen here

Other than that, I'm not doing much. I'm happy with Englands 2-1 victory last night, it was a good game, with some downpoints and Sven still managed to make himself look like an idiot by taking off Wright-Phillips when he was easily the best player England had on the pitch. But still we played a lot better than we had done for a long time, without Beckham and Gerrard (coincidence?).

Just installed MSN Messenger at work so I'm chatting away, and I'm arranging to get to Loughborough in two weeks time to see everyone from uni. Viv isn't too impressed as I said I didn't want to go to Old Boy's in Dover in November, but it's further away, I don't have a mate there who's house we can stay at and the night out is going to be more expensive and A LOT busier. As in 'oh my god I can't get to the bar' kind of busier.

Pretty much finished the site at work, it's getting checked over, so any final changes can be made today or tomorrow before it goes live. So I'm sat twiddling my thumbs for a bit until I get something else to do, I don't think it'll be long though, I should get to help someone with something soon enough.

England Vs Poland

I'm not especially hopeful about this game. Our recent games have been poor, our midfield is pretty much gone, what with Beckham and Gerrard out for this game. Or maybe that could be what really gets us going? Maybe we needed a challenge? Well last time we had even a reasonable challenge we lost 4-1, not a good sign...

I think it is Sven's fault though, our players need someone to shout at them and get them motivated, they've become lethargic and unenthusiastic, and Sven's calm and controlled approach to the game is not really helping. While he may be a good manager and be tactically brilliant, although the recent games against Wales and Northern Ireland makes me doubt this quite alot. We need to pull our fingers out and damn well play with some pride, or we might as well not bother going to the world cup.

Other than that though my website for the Breeders' Cup at work is nearly finished, it's supposed to be done by friday, but I've got most of what I can actually do done, the rest Ryan is working on at the moment, I can't really help as it's to do with live shows and stuff like that.

The gym is going well, I've gone Monday and Tuesday this week, I'm starting to push myself a bit more and I'm gonna start upping my weights and stuff like that to help myself along. No gym tonight though footballs on, Viv said she may be going though, if she can get in and its not too busy, otherwise she'll go home and come and pick me up in the car, which'll save me a bus trip.

Not much to do at work now, I'm trying to think of some websites I can visit while I'm waiting for some updates to do on the site, as I think I'm pretty much finished other than that.

Music to work to - suggestions welcome!

Another day at work, but this time I remembered my headphones! As far as I can tell though, they're quite poor, considering I spent £12 on them. The bass seems awful, but that could be the quality of the music I'm listening too... I don't really know either way!

It's definately better working with music, I get less distracted as well bizarrely. I downloaded 50 free MP3s from eMusic, they have a very poor selection though, it's not a mainstream supplier, so not many bands I know or like. I ended up with Kerplunk from Green Day and Mastadon's first album, as well as a few other songs, and some Bill Hicks, which is very good. Inspiring stuff when your listening to it and coding :P I'm gonna bring in a bunch of CDs tomorrow as my bag will be empty.

Off to the gym again today, so I can watch England in the football tomorrow, we're gonna do badly though, I know it.

I ordered a couple more CDs from Play, Prodigy's greatest hits, which is out on the 17th, and looks great, I love prodigy! Plus it has a bonus second CD with lots of remixes and live stuff, sounds great! I also bought an album by a fat hawaiian guy who plays the ukalele, he had a song on Lost as has been recommended by a few people as easy listening stuff, so I got it anyway.

Serenity

Now this was a cool film, it was, in the words of Jonathan Ross, what the new Star Wars films SHOULD have been. If you liked the old trilogy, go and see this, you wont be disappointed. It's a great little film, nice effects, a decent story, good characters who have some great lines, even Viv was laughing at some places, I was laughing much more :P

It's a sci-fi space flick, but not your standard space flick. It's kind of wild westy, with no lasers or aliens, just humans in space and guns that fire bullets, like the future probably will be like. The crew is filled with good characters, and they dont always get along. The storyline isnt exactly outstanding, it's not gonna win any awards, but it is interesting and well thought out, with a good point to it. And the final battle in space is mint, in fact all of the action is pretty mint!

Overall, I loved this film, it was right up my street. I love sci-fi, especially sci-fi with a decent script, none of this new Star Wars crap, which I felt was truely awful and lacked everything the first trilogy, and this film, has in bucketloads.

Uneventful Weekend

Didnt really get up to much over the weekend. We went out Friday night, I had quite a lot of vodka while watching Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, then Viv and I got a bus back into town and went to O'Neills to meet up with Jayne, Al, Martin and Jim, and to see Viv's work mate Kerry's husband's (Zack) band. They were pretty good, they did lots of covers of otehr bands, but did them well and it was a good choice of music, Nirvana, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Green Day, all the favourites :) After the band we went back to Jayne and Al's and drank some more before going home very drunk.

Didnt do much on saturday, I started reading 'The Drawing of the Three' the second book in the Dark Tower series, which is pretty good. Viv went to work during the day to do some overtime as she is very busy next week. Then we watched Elizabeth and that's about it.

Sunday we drove to the Designer Outlet, to get some bras for Viv but couldn't find any she liked, then we went to Monk's Cross and Clifton Moor to have a look there as well. Viv didn't get anything, but I got some ear phones (which I forgot to bring to work today) and then we went to the cinema, which cost us £6! And they wonder why fewer people are going to the cinema nowadays. It's not because of piracy you dumb bastards, it's because the ticket prices are ridiculous! I can watch as many films as I want, less than 6 months after they are released, for £15 a month, OR, I can go and see less than 3 films at the cinema for the same price, what are you gonna do? Yeah, I'd save up for a decent sized TV and just watch them at home as well...

Which is a shame, because I like going to the cinema...

I'm in pain!

Yes I am! I went to the gym for the first time in quite a while yesterday, and I'm in pain today! My elbows, well technically my triceps, are really sore and tight, I can't bend my arms all the way. The top of my chest near my shoulders has only just started to hurt, and strangely my legs are ok. I'm going again tonight though, YAY! I'm not looking forward to tomorrow...

Works still going well. The site is much closer to completion and it's supposed to be done by the end of next week. I put a big bit in today, that I copied from the old site last year, and it 'should' be working fine, although we have nothing to test it with at the moment.

We're all going for chinese tomorrow apparently, I hope it's not too expensive, but I like chinese. Jayne and Al may be going out tomorrow, but things are a bit tight at the moment, so I don't think me and Viv should go as well. I'll see what Viv says, but I don't want to go out anywhere, I always end up paying more...

Six years together

Yesterday was officially mine and Viv's six year anniversary. We had gone out to Old Orleans to celebrate, but our anniversary was fairly uneventful. My present to Viv isnt released till the end of the month and Viv can't afford to buy my present till the end of the month either. But I got a card from Viv, I didn't get her one...

I went to the Drs to have my rash looked at on my back, turns out it's a 'fungal infection'. I have some tablets for it. My health check was OK, I have to give another urine sample as I may have a possible ear infection, you get blood in your urine apparently if you have an ear infection. Go figure...

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful, tidied the house a bit, Viv carried on arranging photo albums, I played on my DS as I got Advance Wars: Dual Strike that morning, it's ace! I love the AW games, I played the first one for ages, and this one seems like it's gonna last a looooong time. Hopefully it will anyway, as there still don't seem be that many great DS games around. I am gonna order some more of the Dark Tower books as well, so it's not like I'm gonna have a shortage of things to do on the train.

We also watched Sin City, it's much better on the big screen, but still cool. Not much else happened. Viv watched CSI, I played on my DS. Work tomorrow...

It's been a long time, Baby

It has indeed! I havent updated for 5 days! Well I have been on holiday...

Friday was the usual getting drunk, although this time it was at my house. Blizzard was stressing me out. He was upset as he was getting left out, but I wish he would just calm down. After a stressful hour or two he calmed down and we left him in the kitchen to chill out. The rest of the night was good, me being the first to go to bed, just before everyone else left.

Saturday we weren't going to go out, but ended up doing a bit of pre gaming and then leaving around ten to meet up with Jayne and Al in the Lowther. Jim and two girls he knows where there as well when we got there and Martin and his girlfriend turned up later. We had a few drinks then got a taxi to Jayne's, which took ages as the que was huge. Then we smoked and drank and listened to Queen, Blur and various other old bands, till we got another taxi around five. I then made tuna toasties as I was starving, they were goooooood...

Sunday was uneventful, we didnt do much as everyone was at work and stuff and Viv had an interview on Monday. Most of the day was spent reading (me) and sorting out photo albums (viv). We did go to ASDA though to get more albums and I got Projet Rub for my DS as it was on sale. It's pretty cool, uses the touchscreen and is amusing.

Monday Viv had her interview, which she said was OK. I went to the Dr, got registered and got an appointment for Tuesday. We joined the gym, I got a bodystat done. I'm pretty big at the moment, can't wait to start going and getting fit again! Gayle came home from Barcelona and Viv picked her up from the station, cleaned the house. Then me and Viv went out to Old Orleans, which was good, lots of cocktails, ribs and bruschetta for a starter, I had Chicken Jambalaya, which I thought would be bigger, and Viv had a 8oz steak. We sat at the bar for a bit and had more drinks, then nearly got the meal half price, but they sorted the bill out eventually. Got a lift home from Gayle.

Party at my place!

Your Pimp Name Is...
His Majesty Luv

I think that's quite a cool pimp name :) I also have a post about what kind of drunk I am, put I'm having trouble pasting it into my post at the moment, I'm not really sure why... Apparently though I am a happy drunk, which I kind of knew already. When I'm drunk I like to have fun and act stupid and laugh a lot. I like being around other happy drunks as well, and most of my friends are, they dont start crying or anything and I've never been in a fight while on a night out, although I know people who have. Even Viv has before, but then I warned her about going to Toff's but she went anyway :P

This Friday it's party at my place! WOOHOO! My parents and sister are away, so it's everyone round to mine for a big piss up. All smoking is however outside and try not to get things too messy. As you may have gathered, it's not exactly a house party, just our usual gathering, but this time at my house.

Last night I met Viv in a pub in York called the Windmill. It's alot bigger than it looks from the outside, glad I went to the toilet really, or I'd have kept on thinking it was really small, theres a whole load hidden round the back! It was a good evening overall, got a few drinks, chatted to Viv's workmates (it was a leaving do), and met the new Temp who Viv's working with. Then we had to get the bus home as Blizzard hadn't been out all day and we hadn't eaten. So we took him for a walk, in the dark, then I cooked bratwurst (hmmm... bratwurst), then we watched House.

For anyone who hasnt seen House yet, watch it, it's ace! It's a medical mystery type thing, where patients have mystery illnesses, and the Doctors have to diagnose them. Doesn't sound too interesting but it is, and Dr House is one of the best characters I've seen in a while. I think it'll be kind of hard to get into now, as theres quite a few ongoing stories, but it's worth trying to find the first few episodes to catch up. It still has each episode as a one off story, but theres other stuff going on as well, you can watch them on their own, but you just won't get some things that happen. It won't be hard to pick up though.

More Responsibility

My parents and my sister have all gone away for the weekend. My sister has gone away to Barcelona for the weekend on a Hen Night, my parents have gone to Italy. Me and Viv are left behind to babysit the dog...

We have the house to ourselves and will be having the Dudes around on Friday to have a get together, they're not exactly 'parties' so 'get together' is more suitable. I've also got Monday and Tuesday off now, as it is mine and Viv's Anniversary. However, Viv has an interview at 13:00 at York University and I have to go to the doctors at some point to get my back looked at. I've had a rash for a while and Viv's getting worried about it, so I have to go and register, and then get an appointment. We're also going out quite a lot over the weekend. Probably Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday will all be drinking nights! We're going out on Monday night, possibly to a surf and turf place in York, theres a nice looking one on the end of Rougier Street Viv wants to go to.

As far as anniversary presents go I've got Viv the Ally McBeal Box set, it's got every episode from every series, she's very happy, even though it's not out till the end of the month. I'm getting the Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect Colletion Box Set, with all 26 episodes in, for the same price as Viv's Box set. Mines one season, hers is at least four... Ah the price of anime these days, pfft, I dunno...

Work continues

As the title says, work continues on my website project at work. Damn, Unix is confusing! Vignette is easy enough to learn, along with TCL, but using Unix is just plain weird. As far as I can figure it, I'm dealing with a sight spanning at least 10 different folders and 2 different servers, and all the files are spread over these folders and servers. It's a nightmare trying to find which file is referencing what...

I watched a lot of Naruto yesterday with Viv, I've been trying to get her to watch some more, as it gets a lot better and we're only on episode 20 of 140+. I miss my new episode of Naruto every week, since I moved home I can't BitTorrent anymore, my parents' PC is rubbish and so our internet connection. I can't wait to get a house of our own, although saving money is a must at the moment. I'm still debating if I should get a PSP or not...

Daily Grind

Back to the grind stone again. I'm back at work now, head down as usual.

The weekend was largely uneventful, got very drunk Friday and Saturday, having great fun both nights, with Friday night ending with a very large fire in Glen's garden, melting a plastic flowerbed and consuming several boxes full of stuff, including an old housemates shirts and some christmas decorations. Saturday ended with Viv asleep again, after ordering a taxi, I did re-discover Space though, which was good.

I bought Appleseed over the weekend, which was pretty good, it's got a nice style to it, a cross between animation and CGI, and some of the scenes look spectacular, and the action is brilliant. Viv also bought Charlotte's Web and made me watch it, although I was reading Vernon God Little at the time. I'd forgotten how pathetic Wilbur is in that film, whining away and fainting all the time, he's never happy and it's all about him. I finished Vernon God Little, and while the book was quite depressing, getting gradually worse and worse, the book has a very good ending, which I found very satisfying. Now I am bookless until I either get the book I ordered from play.com, or get myself the PSP I've been promising myself. Until then I'll just play Fire Emblem on my DS on the train.

How many's a Brazilian?

Great punchline :P

I haven't done much today, but I think all the eventful stuff will be happening tonight, as is mostly the case on Fridays. I spent a lot of the day trying to configure the email on my phone, annoyingly enough I couldn't figure it out, which means I'll actually have to read the manual, pfft... Unfortunately even if I do get it working I still can't use it to get pictures onto my blog as I'm in the UK and blogger doesnt support O2 texts. I could've put some 'interesting' pictures on. Well maybe I'll have to get me some photos off my home PC so I can make this page a bit brighter.

That reminds me, I should mess around with my site template as well, update my links and stuff...

Maybe tomorrow :D Tonight I'm gonna get me some Weed and Vodka. Hmmmm...

Motorola V3 Razr

Now this a phone with a quality game on it! I find phones these days to be incredibly annoying, I mean who really wants a second rate camera on their phone anyway? I'd rather just have a decent game to play, a phone that doesnt crash and free internet porn anywhere at anytime. Well two out of three aint bad anyway. The Razr has the best phone game I have ever played. The Golf game (I know doesnt sound great does it?) is awesome! I've played it for hours, you have lots of different modes, it's challenging, sometimes frustrating, but still great! At last, something to keep me amused until I run out of books or buy a PSP for the commute.

How bored am I?

That's right, I'm quite bored. It's nice to have somewhere to write stuff, but it helps if you have something to write. I've been looking around a few other blogs and most of them seem quite specialised, I don't really have that many interests in my life and I get bored of them very easily and move on to something else. About the only thing I've done consistently for any period of time is get drunk and play computer games, and theres enough blogs about that already.

I may decide to specialise this blog later, but that depends how into this I get...

Pay Day

Time to record a follow-up post :)

As you may have guessed I am now alot more busy at work, I have been given something to do, and although it seems a bit over complicated to begin with, I'm sure it'll be fine once I get my head round it. I'm altering an old website in order to make a new mini-site for www.sportinglife.com. It's to do with Horse Racing, I may have other work following, but I have a month to do this.

I finished 'Eragon' the other yesterday. It's a good book by Christopher Paolini. It's part of a trilogy, but I don't have the others yet. I've just started 'Vernon God Little', which is a bit strange, but good.

I GET PAID FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY!!

An Interesting Weekend

It's been quite an eventful few days, I went on a Ghost Walk in York with Viv and The Dudes (our friends) and it was great! The guy taking it was funny and the stories were good, I also got to see alot more of York than I had done before.

On Saturday we went to Flamingo Land as it was Sarah's birthday treat. I went on quite a few rides and Viv managed to scare herself like she usually does, but once she went on a few she was OK.

And of course we got very drunk over the weekend as well :)

The First Post

This is my first blog post, I can't believe I actually got one...

Basically I made this as an online diary, so I have somewhere to rant to myself or whoever stumbles across my ravings. I may add any interesting links I find, any useful sites, I may post pictures occasionally, if I can be bothered, and I'll update until I decide I'm bored of this, it's getting too personal, or I don't have any free time anymore.
